Businesses in the suburbs of Skopje, which were damaged from the August 6 floods of this year, have not yet been compensated.
Chamber of Commerce of Northwestern Macedonia says that there are over 380 companies in the regions that were engulfed by the floods, which suffered damages amounting to over 15 million euros.
Entrepreneur Burim Aliu says that the damage that his business has suffered is over 1 million euros, but he is expecting compensation from the government.
“After we submitted our demands to all institutions, we have waited for them to come and verify the damages and unless they come, we will not remove the goods, even if this spreads diseases”, Aliu said.
Chamber of Commerce of Northwestern Macedonia have asked the government to find a solution for the companies hit by the floods.
“We have demanded a full compensation for businesses and also facilitating measures, but so far, there is no reply”, says Milaim Ameti of the Chamber of Commerce of Northwestern Macedonia.
The government commission for the evaluation of damages says that their only competence is the evaluation of damages for households, but not for businesses. However, businesses are hoping for the next government to come to their aid. /balkaneu.com/
