The Albanian Minister of Justice, Ylli Manjani has sent a letter to his French counterpart, Jean-Jacques Urvoas, where he expresses his concern on the arrest of the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj.
Mr. Manjani expresses his concern on “the abuse that Serb authorities are making with Interpol structures in issuing international arrest warrants and arrest Albanians of Kosovo for political reasons”.
Former PM Ramush Haradinaj was arrested by French authorities based on an international arrest warrant issued by Serbia following charges raised in 2004.
Manjani told his French counterpart that Mr. Haradinaj faces no charges and that he was acquitted by both chambers of the Tribunal of Hague for former Yugoslavia , as an authority established by the UN to handle this issue.
Under these circumstances, Manjani has asked from his French counterpart to refuse the request for extradition made by Belgrade. Manjani also demanded French authorities to immediately release Haradinaj. /balkaneu.com/
