Association of Serb Communes sparks reactions in Pristina and Belgrade

Pristina would consider the Association of Serb Communes not only unacceptable, but also a parallel institution, if it is established unilaterally by the Serbs of Kosovo with the support of the government of Serbia.

This was declared by officials of the Government of Kosovo, according to which the Association of Serb Communes can only be established based on the Brussels Agreement reached as part of the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade.

Reactions were triggered in Pristina following the declarations of the head of the Office for Kosovo in the Serb government, Marko Djuric, who said that if Pristina doesn’t establish the Association of Serb Communes until 15 February, then this association would be established by the representatives of the Serbs of Kosovo with the support of the Serb government.

Meanwhile, the deputy minister of the Local Government in the government of Kosovo, Bajram Gecaj says that the logic of dialogue in Brussels was to dismantle and not form new parallel institutions.

“The Association of Serb Communes can only be established with the support of the government of Kosovo and anything else would be considered as a parallel institution and will have no legal effects in the Republic of Kosovo”. /balkaneu.com/
