The masterpieces of the famous French sculptor Auguste Rodin, which were presented on Tuesday night at the opening of the exhibition “Rodin in Mestrovic’s Zagreb”, are the most representative beginning of a large five-month cultural event in Croatia-the Festival “Rendez-vous”.
This is an exhibition where the famous sculptor Auguste Rodin (1840-1917), will be presented with around seventy of his works, among which will be some of the most famous, like the masterpieces “The Thinker”, “The Kiss”, “Gates of Hell” and “Bronze Age”.
With this Festival, France will be presented in the next five months with more than 150 events in 22 cities which will be bridges of cooperation between the two nations, the French and Croats.
The exhibition at the Zagreb’s Art Pavilion was opened by the President of the Republic, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, who pointed out that the exhibition of the famous Rodin “was a worthy event for the opening ceremony of the French Culture in Croatia-‘Rendez-vous’, which is an important interweaving of artistic and cultural works”.
With this presentation France returns the visit, after a successful initial presentation of the Croatian culture and arts in France in 2012 and 2013, with the manifestation “Croatie, la voici”.
Apart from Zagreb, Rodin’s work will be exhibited in Split, where on May 8 in the Mestrovic Gallery will be opened smaller but also significant exhibition “Rodin’s Meditation in Split”, when the sculptor’s work “Meditation-The inner voice” will be presented.
The exhibition “Rodin in Mestrovic’s Zagreb” is open for viewing until September 20.
