President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci has been received today by the president of Malta, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca in the presidential palace in Valetta, the capital of Malta.

Given that Malta will hold the EU presidency from 1 January 2017, president Thaci demanded from this country for the EU to focus on Western Balkans.

“The aspiration of Western Balkan countries to be part of the EU will never cease. The delays in the process of approaching the Western Balkan countries, especially Kosovo, is a threat for security, as it gives way to nationalist ideologies and fundamentalist radicalism”, president Thaci said.

Meanwhile, president Preca said that Malta will demand from other EU countries to focus on Western Balkan.

Meanwhile, Maltese Foreign Minister, George Wella, who was part of the Maltese delegation in the meeting, said that “The EU must confirm the support for Western Balkan countries”. /balkaneu.com/
