President of the Republic of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga in Washington by representatives of the US Congress.
In Capitol Hill, Jahjaga was received by Congressman Ed Royce and senior Committee member, Congressman Elliot Engel.
President Jahjaga thanked US congressmen for the continuous support that the US Congress has given for Kosovo.
She said that Kosovo is free and independent thanks to the help and support of the US Congress.
“I informed the congressmen for the internal reforms, consolidation of democracy in Kosovo and strengthening of sovereignty. In these meetings, I stressed the importance of the continuation of reforms to attract foreign investments, reforms which must be associated with an unprecedented war against corruption”, the president declared.
President Jahjaga also informed the congressmen on the dialogue about the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia and the recent agreements that have been signed. She stressed the need of the continuation of support by the United States for the dialogue and the implementation of the agreements reached in Brussels.
Meanwhile, the US congressmen said that Kosovo is a success story. They expressed the full support of the United States of America for its Euro Atlantic aspirations, the implementation of the democratic reforms and economic development of the country. /ibna/
