The construction of 300 houses will start today in the north of Mitrovica. These houses will accommodate 1500 Serbs who left Kosovo during the war.

This project called “Sun’s Valley’ has been funded by the Serb government, while it will built between the commune of Mitrovica and Zvecan.

“This is a historical step for the return of our people in Metohi, but also for all of the Serbs from Kosovo who were banned 16 years ago”, said the head of the Kosovo office at the Serb government, Marko Djuric.

Belgrade’s incentive has sparked strong reactions in Pristina. Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa declared today that the project in question will not be allowed.

“They have no right to build the Sun’s Valley. It is not permitted unless a permission by the institutions is given”, Mustafa said.

The Ministry of Environment also says that the project in question is unlawful.

“Ministry of Environment informs public opinion that it has not been informed on the housing project for those who will return in the commune of Zvecan. This ministry would like to make it clear that this project cannot be built without permission by respective authorities”, the ministry’s reaction says. /balkaneu.com/
