The Croatian State Attorney’s Office (DORH) and the serious fraud office (USKOK) stated on Monday that  Hernadi, the CEO of the Hungarian oil and gas MOL Group, said a number of untruths during his Sanday interview on the RTL.

The Croatian prosecutorial authorities stated however that any defendant had the right to present their defence whichever they think best, adding that they are not obliged to tell the truth.

USKOK had on March 31 indicted Hernadi for giving former Croatian prime minister, Ivo Sanader, a 10-million euros kickback in exchange for ceding to MOL management rights in Croatia’s oil and gas company INA.

The Croatian President Ivo Josipovic also commented on the interview describing it as an attempt from Hernadi to put pressure on the Croatian judicial authorities. He also stated his confidence that the countries judiciary authorities will remain unaffected by such attempts.
