Prosecution for War Crimes in Serbia has announced that it has gathered extra evidence against the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, who was arrested on Wednesday in the airport of Basel by French police.
His arrest was made based on an arrest warrant issued by Serbia through Interpol in 2004.
The head of the Serb Prosecution for War Crimes, Milan Petrovic is happy about the fact that the arrest warrants issued by Serbia are being applied in EU member countries.
Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday that Serbia will demand the extradition of the leader of AAK, Ramush Haradinaj, who was arrested by French authorities in Basel.
“There’s nothing else to do for us but demand his extradition. To me it would be absurd if France didn’t act in compliance with the law”, Prime Minister of Serbia said.
Meanwhile, the Kosovo Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri has reacted against Serbia’s stance.
She said that Kosovo must apply reciprocity measures against Serbia concerning people from Serbia who are wanted for war crimes in Kosovo.
“We must apply measures of reciprocity. At the end of the day, it was Serbia who carried out a genocide and serious crimes against humanities”, said Tahiri.
The Minister for Dialogue said that the spirit of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia has been threatened significantly in the recent weeks. /balkaneu.com/
