While Kosovo advances and makes progress in building its future, NATO, through KFOR, will remain committed in playing its role for the stability of the country.

This was said by the commander of the Allied Supreme Forces in Europe, general Philip Breedlove during his visit to Kosovo.

“We will remain flexible and present and we will change the number of soldiers once the security conditions allow it. This is a conditioned process and we will remain here as a significant force in Kosovo for as much time as it is necessary”, said general Breedlove.

Breedlove has also talked about the possibility of transforming Kosovo Security Force into the Armed Forces of Kosovo.

“We have constantly said that we will see how the transformation takes place and if Kosovo will work with its neighbors to reach an agreement; this is our positioning.”

“The good news is that the Force may interact with KFOR in order to get the best experience and carry out its mission to the best of its abilities”, general Breedlove said.

On the other hand, the commander of KFOR, general Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta said that KFOR is very happy with the full engagement of the institutions of Kosovo and according to him, the first results are tangible.

“I would like to underline the close cooperation between police of Kosovo, EULEX and KFOR. KFOR will continue to maintain a safe environment for all the citizens of Kosovo and will offer the necessary conditions for the future steps of the normalization process”, said KFOR commander, general Miglietta.

During his visit to Kosovo, the commander of the Allied Supreme Forces in Europe, general Philip Breedlove, has also held separate meetings with the president of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga and prime minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa./ibna/
