Around 300 French soldiers may soon withdraw from Kosovo upon the decision of the French president, François Hollande. They may leave Kosovo in the first half of next year. In the message sent to NATO member countries, Hollande has said that Kosovo is no longer threatened militarily and that the general security situation allows this withdrawal. According to him, the decision for the withdrawal from Kosovo has been taken due to the difficulties that France has in Africa.
Hollande’s decision means that 300 French soldiers will leave the north of Kosovo and that KFOR will remain with 11 officers and 39 police officers, who are part of EULEX. /ibna/
