Kosovo can be consolidated as a state and it must strengthen democracy by working together. This was how former president of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga started her address in the Global Summit of Women in Parliaments held in Jordan.

“As a leader, I know that Kosovo has survived repression and war, because we have stayed united, men and women. I know that we can build our peace, consolidate our state and strengthen our democracy by working together. I want to praise the efforts of leaders all around the world who are contributing in the fight against all evil things that we face today”, Jahjaga said.

Jahjaga also spoke for the rights of women in the world, by saying that in spite of the achievements that have been seen in women’s rights, she has also mentioned the fact that in every society, there are also women and girls who still do not enjoy their rights.

“I’d like to stress that we cannot achieve sustainable peace, if women are not part of decision making. We can prevent history from repeating, but we can only do this through a joint commitment and by recognizing the important role of women in the prevention of conflicts and the building of peace”, said former president of Kosovo. /balkaneu.com/
