Prince of Wales, Charles and his wife, Duchess Camilla, have stayed in Pristina for a visit during the weekend. This visit was considered historical for the citizens and leadership in Kosovo.

Following meetings with state leaders, religious leaders and family members of people who have disappeared in the last war in Kosovo, Prince of Wales demanded for bridges to be build and for the people of the Balkan to be reconciled.

Prince Charles also talked about his impressions since the first visit in Kosovo in 1999. He said that at that time, he saw the suffering of these people and the destruction of the heritage.

“Without the roots of this culture we are lost. Without history, we are lost. At the same time, we must not allow to be hostages of this history”, Prince Charles said.

He said that he was happy to have been able to visit Muslim, Catholic and Orthodox places of worship.

The Prince of Wales said that he was mostly touched by families of missing people.

“What I have heard has broken my heart. The families of missing people have asked me to help them”, Prince Charles said.

However, he declared that revenge is not the right path. “Revenge is not the right path. There must be reconciliation”, Prince Charles said.

In the meeting with the President of the country, Atifete Jahjaga, the topic of discussion was cooperation between Kosovo and UK, the progress of Kosovo in building a democratic state and the international recognition of Kosovo.

President Jahjaga said that “the visit of his Highness to Kosovo confirms the special links between the Republic of Kosovo and United Kingdom”.

On this occasion, president Jahjaga has decorated Prince Charles with the Order for Peace, Democracy and Humanism “Dr. Ibrahim Rugova” for his vital contribution in peace, harmony and understanding between the people of Kosovo and people of other countries. /ibna/
