Departing government of Kosovo has approved today the recommendations of the Leading Inter Ministerial Committee for the construction of the highway linking Pristina to the Han of Elez.

This decision authorizes the Ministry of Infrastructure to sign the contract for the construction of the highway and obliges all ministries and other responsible institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to take all necessary actions to implement this decision.

Prime minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci wrote today that the “New Mission” for the construction of the infrastructure and development of the country continues.

“The government just approved the recommendation for the construction of the highway linking Pristina to Skopje. We continue the New Mission by building infrastructure, developing Kosovo and creating new jobs”, wrote Thaci.

Departing minister of Infrastructure, Fehmi Mujota said on Monday during the government meeting that the selected company has offered a better price, while adding that the contract is now expected to be signed for this national project.

“This commission has evaluated the documents submitted by competing companies and has made the technical and financial assessment of offers and based on this, it has selected Bechtel & Enka consortium, as the most successful company with the best offer.

Now we’re in the final phase of the process and signature of the contract for the highway.

The project of the highway has gone through a long and important process, since the government’s decision to appoint the Leading Inter Ministerial Committee in June 2012. This process has been successfully led for two years”.

This highway will be built by “Bechtel&Enka” consortium, which made the best financial offer of 600 million Euros.

The length of the project is 42 months from the signature of the contract. /ibna/
