Ministry of Education and Science in FYR Macedonia has announced the closure of several private universities, should they not meet the necessary criteria.
This was declared by the head of this ministry, Abdilaqim Ademi during the debate relating to the amendments in the law on universities.
“Educational inspectorates have encountered problems in several private universities in Macedonia and these problems relate to educational programs. If until the start of the next academic year these problems are not remedied, then these problematic universities will be shut down”, declared minister Ademi.
Ministry of Education has proposed changes on the law for universities, which will see the application of state exams for university students, in order to increase the quality of education.
“There’s a general evaluation that the quality of education has decreased. We have determined the main objectives and for this, we want to remove the motives and meet our joint objective for a better quality education”, said minister Ademi.
But, professors and students are against these state exams, claiming that they intervene with the autonomy of universities. /ibna/
