Czech firefighters have arrived today in Skopje to help local authorities in coping with the crisis
“The Czech Republic, which has lots of experience with floods, offered to Macedonia eight generators and 47 pumps for the operations”, said Nikol Zoralova, spokesperson of the General Directorate of the Czech General Directorate of Firefighters.
Leader of the largest opposition party, SDSM (Macedonian Social Democratic Union), Zoran Zaev blames the government for this situation.
“I am Zoran Zaev and I demand more responsibility from the government. I demand responsibility for the past two years and not only for this case. But time will come when we will investigate the causes of this tragedy”, leader of SDSM, Zoran Zaev said.
The government held a meeting where it looked into the possibility of compensating the residents of flooded areas. Based on preliminary information, over 5 thousand households in 12 locations, mainly in Skopje, were hit by the floods, following heavy storms that hit the country during the weekend.
Meanwhile, there are concerns that the floods may be repeated, as rainfalls are forecasted in the days to come. /balkaneu.com/
