Three police officers of the Kosovo border unit have remained wounded near Zubin Potok, an area inhabited by a Serb majority, after they were ambushed by identified persons.
Local sources told IBNA that the event took place around 10 am in the village of Banjska, in Zubin Potok. The three wounded men are of Serb nationality.
At the time when they were wounded, the police officers were travelling on a car.
There are suspicions that the police officers have been attacked by several smugglers who operate in the area. Police are investigating suspicions that the ambush may have come as a revenge to police efforts in stopping smuggling.
The wounded police officers have been rushed for medical treatment to the hospital of Northern Mitrovica and their state is reported to be improving.
The director of this hospital, Milan Ivanovic said that one of the wounded police officers, Oliver Kuzmanovic has sustained wounds on the chest and abdomen, but after receiving medical treatment, his state his not critical.
The other two police officers have also sustained light injuries and they’re receiving medical treatment in the health center of Zubin Potok. /ibna/
