Kosovo’s admission in the UEFA and FIFA and its participation in the Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifiers, in the Rio 2016 and the Olympic gold medal won by judo fighter, Majlinda Kelmendi, were some of the best sport moments for Kosovo in 2016.
In these international races, Kosovo’s sportsmen also brought the first Olympic medals for the new state.
Judo fighter Majlinda Kelmendi promises that she will not stop at this and that she will bring other medals in future international races.
“Sport is the best ambassador for our country. I’m happy that I am able to make the people of Kosovo feel good and forget about their daily problems”, she said.
Besides judo, Kosovo also recorded good results in football and basketball.
Kosovo’s football team was part of the Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.
