KFOR commander, Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, has met with the Swiss ambassador to Kosovo, Krystyna Marty Lang, who has confirmed Switzerland’s support for KFOR. She said that the Swiss government is active in Kosovo in the domain of health, infrastructure and integration of minorities.
General Figliuolo and Lang discussed topics that relate to the general situation of security and recent developments in the region. The KFOR commander has thanked the ambassador for the big contribution given by the Swiss contingent in the framework of KFOR.
According to a press statement issued by KFOR, Figliuolo stressed the important role of the Swiss helicopters and engineers and of the North Joint Regional Detachment, which operates in the north of the country by contributing in informing KFOR on the situation on the field.
In the end, both interlocutors agreed over the importance of finding a comprehensive approach which involves the representatives of the international community in order to normalize society through dialogue and cooperation in the Balkan region.
Since October 1999, Swiss armed forces have been involved in the KFOR mission. Currently, there are around 200 members of the Swiss service located, as part of KFOR” in the ‘Film City’ Camp, in the Camp of Prizren and Camp Marechal de Lattre de Tassigny. /ibna/
