Tirana will soon be the first city in Albania to introduce electronic bus tickets.
In today’s meeting, the government delegated to the Municipality of Tirana the right to emit electronic tickets for city buses.
The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj said today that there will no longer be ticket controllers and physical exchange of tickets in buses.
He said that “we will soon integrate ‘My Tirana’ app and the electronic board in every bus station, in order for those who get out of the house to know where the bus is by checking the GPS”.
Veliaj said that this has been a long process and for 25 years, it has been a monopoly of the central government. “The monopoly is destroyed today. Tirana will be the first city and first municipality in Albania to introduce an eletronic system”, he said.
Albania is behind other European countries as far as technological development of the bus transported is concerned. /balkaneu.com/
