As of today, Kosovo has a new country code, 383, which was officially allocated by the International Union of Telecommunication, which is the UN agency for coordination of telecommunication services in the world.
Minister for Dialogue at the government of Kosovo, Edita Tahiri said that this is historical news and it strengthens Kosovo’s stately position.
Prime Minister Isa Mustafa said that the new country code strengthens the sovereignty of the state.
“Today, Republic of Kosovo was allocated the international country code. Kosovo has marked a great achievement by making an important step in completing all the elements of a state”, Mustafa said.
The agreement for the telephone country code has been reached in the talks for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
So far, Kosovo has used 381 country code, which belonged to former Yugoslavia and then it was taken by Serbia and 386 country code of Slovenia and 377 country code of Monaco for mobile phones. /balkaneu.com/
