UEFA’s executive committee decided today to give the green light for the participation of two clubs from Kosovo in European competitions.
The domestic league champion (Kosovo) and the winner of the League Cup can be accepted in the first qualifying round of the Champions League and the Europa League if they meet the licensing criteria according to article 15 of the UEFA’s regulation on clubs.
This evaluation will be made by the UEFA’s administration until 31 May. UEFA will also establish a work group to discuss how national teams of Gibraltar and Kosovo will participate in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, after their acceptance as FIFA members”, the UEFA statement says.
Thus, in the new edition, Kosovo will only be able to participate with two clubs and not three as it was hoped and only if they meet the criteria.
Feronikel will play in the Champions League qualifiers and the winner of the Cup of Kosovo will play in the European League./balkaneu.com/
